Dr. Adam S. Komorowski is a Canadian-Italian infectious diseases consultant, medical microbiologist, methodologist, and Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Dept. of Medicine with a cross-appointment to the Dept. of Pathology and Molecular Medicine (PMM). Within PMM, Adam serves as the program director for the medical microbiology fellowship program. He completed a BSc in microbiology and immunology at the University of Toronto, his medical degree in Ireland, and his medical microbiology residency and MSc in Health Research Methodology (advisor: Dr. D. Mertz) at McMaster University, where his thesis focused on using whole genome sequencing to study Serratia marcescens complex transmission. From 2024-2026, Adam studied non-pharmacologic pandemic interventions through a fellowship with the Pandemic EVIDENCE Collaboration at Kellogg College, University of Oxford. Adam's research programme broadly focuses on using evidence-based medicine to improve the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, with special interests in invasive fungal infections and diagnostic test accuracy study methodology. He is an active co-investigator on multiple CIHR-funded studies and has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers, including guidelines co-authored with the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table. Adam's other roles include membership in the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and the editorial advisory board of Clinical Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Komorowski IS ACCEPTING inquiries from qualified medical students and medical residents for voluntary research assistant roles in infectious diseases, medical microbiology, and/or research methodology.
