Jeffery William Donaldson

Professor, English & Cultural Studies

Jeffery Donaldson’s preoccupations have largely derived from a lifelong love of poetry and poetics.  His ongoing work in theories of metaphor and metaphoric thinking has evolved into the application of “relational” paradoxes in many disciplines beyond English studies, most recently science, quantum physics, spacetime and cosmology. 

Donaldson would be happy to supervise graduate work in a broad range of interdisciplinary fields:  poetry and poetics, myth criticism, creative writing, rhetoric, formalism, fictive worlds and literary cosmology, literary history, modernism, the literary Enlightenment, philosophy, art and art history, the history of ideas, science, psychology, language and linguistics, textual editing, belles lettres, German and French literature, translation, along with an enthusiastic list of 19^th- and 20^th-century American, Canadian, and English authors. 

Donaldson is also the author of seven volumes of verse.
