Overview

Dr. Iqbal Jaffer is a Cardiac Surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at McMaster University, where he also serves as Program Director for the Cardiac Surgery Residency Program. His clinical practice focuses on aortic valve interventions, both surgical and transcatheter (TAVR), and he is actively involved in advancing early discharge and aortopathy care models.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Jaffer leads research on valve thrombosis and clot attenuation on medical devices, and has developed several collaborative initiatives in imaging, anticoagulation, and simulation-based training. He is deeply engaged in surgical education, mentorship, and international training efforts, with a focus on shaping the next generation of cardiac surgeons
