Dr Gupta-Bhatnagar’s journey in medicine started with medical school degree and pediatric residency at McMaster University. She completed her Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine fellowship at McMaster University in 2016 and began working in the Division of Neonatology at McMaster Children’s Hospital as a part-time Assistant Clinical Professor. Driven by her passion in quality improvement, she pursued a Master’s degree in Healthcare Quality, Risk and Safety at Queen’s University (2017-2019). Her primary focus is on improving infection prevention practices using evidence-based principles to improve health outcomes in preterm neonates. She formed and co-leads the Nosocomial Infection Working Group at McMaster Children’s Hospital NICU and is the site lead physician for the Infection Outcome Group of the EPIQ (Evidence-Based Practice for Improvement in Quality) initiative. She also holds a special interest in antibiotic stewardship and is the Antibiotic Stewardship Champion at MCH NICU, and the site lead physician for the CIHR funded Nationwide Antibiotic Stewardship Project through CNN (Canadian Neonatal Network).
