The Gillgrass lab’s primary research focus is on immunology and infectious disease. Globally, 37% of deaths in people with HIV are from co-infections with tuberculosis. The combination of the two pathogens can be lethal since each negatively affects the disease progression of the other. Our current focus is using a humanized mouse model of HIV/TB co-infection to explore how this affects immune responses, treatment, prophylaxis and disease outcome.
