Lorrie Gallant

Lecturer (Adjunct), Family Medicine

Lorrie Gallant is Haudenosaunee, Cayuga Nation born and raised on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, a wife, mother and grandmother who has written and illustrated several children's books published by Indigenous Education Press.

She worked 11 years as Museum Education Coordinator for Woodland Cultural Centre in Brantford Ontario where the former Mohawk Institute Indian Residential school was located. Lorrie is a part-time professor at Brock University and Wilfred Laurier University in the Indigenous Education Department, a sessional instructor at Six Nations Polytechnic on the topic of Residential School and Truth and Reconciliation, Lecturer (Adjunct) McMaster University in the Department of Family Medicine, Strategic Director of Indigenous Programming and Partnerships for Facing History and Ourselves Canada. Lorrie is an author, storyteller, artist, educator, Community Partner with the York Catholic District School Board and an Associate Expressive Arts Practitioner. As a generational survivor and a survivor of domestic violence Lorrie uses her gifts to bring awareness of the history, impacts and current lived experience of Indigenous people through art and teaching.
