Jonathan Dushoff is a theoretical biologist with a particular interest in the evolution and spread of infectious diseases that affect humans. He has been active in the response to the 2014 West Africa Ebola outbreak and the current COVID-19 outbreak. His longer-term interests include canine rabies in Africa and Asia; HIV; and influenza.

He is also interested in statistical philosophy and practice, and in questions of biodiversity and Ecology.

Dr. Dushoff is a Professor of Biology at McMaster, where he is also associated with the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease, the Global Health program and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He is a founder and co-director of ICI3D, an Africa-based capacity-building program for infectious-disease modeling. During the COVID-19 outbreak, he has consulted with the office of the Chief Science Officer of Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada and the WHO African Regional Office, among other public offices and agencies.
