Dr. Stephanie Carlin is a Thrombosis Pharmacist at Hamilton Health Sciences and Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Thromboembolism in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. She completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto, followed by a Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. She completed two clinical pharmacy residency programs, first a general practice program, followed by a specialist practice program in Thrombosis, both at the University of Toronto. Dr. Carlin’s research program focuses on improving the safety and effectiveness of antithrombotic therapy in high-risk patient populations, with particular interest in optimizing anticoagulation for patients with mechanical heart valves and for those with liver disease. She has published over 30 peer reviewed publications with half as first author in leading journals including Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Annals of Internal Medicine, and JACC Advances. Dr. Carlin is a leader in the national and international thrombosis community. She recently co-chaired the annual Thrombosis Canada meeting and is an ongoing co-chair of the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Subcommittee on Hemostasis and Thrombosis in Liver Disease.
