Goran Calic is the Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, where he is also Academic Lead of the Marinucci Entrepreneurial Bridge. He studies how managers and investors make strategic decisions under uncertainty, from how new ventures are judged and funded to how firms adopt new technologies. His research appears in the Strategic Management Journal, Research Policy, the Journal of Management Studies, the Journal of Business Ethics and Small Business Economics. He has also written five Harvard Business Review articles and two Harvard Business School cases. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Business Venturing and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and was a guest editor of a Research Policy special issue. From 2023 to 2025 he was Director of McMaster's MBA programs, and from 2024 to 2025 he was a Visiting Scholar in the Strategy Unit at Harvard Business School. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management, with a minor in Economics, from Purdue University.
