Overview
Dr. Hans U. Boden is a Professor of Mathematics at McMaster University working in Pure Mathematics, specifically Geometry and Topology. His research is focused on gauge theory and low-dimensional topology, invariants of knots and 3-manifolds, moduli spaces of flat connections, character varieties, and generalized Casson invariants. His most recent papers study periodicity for virtual and welded knots, invariants of virtual knot concordance, and the generalized Tait conjectures. He is actively investigating several open problems related to these results.
His research team currently includes two postdocs, two graduate students, and one undergraduate student.
