Dr. Xu-Dong Zhu is a professor in the Department of Biology at McMaster University. Dr. Zhu is interested in elucidating molecular mechanisms by which human cells maintain their genomic integrity. Currently, the Zhu laboratory investigates how Cockayne syndrome group B (CSB) protein, a chromatin remodeler, helps prevent genomic instability, an underlying hallmark of cancer and aging. Knowledge gained from these studies is expected to aid in the design of anti-cancer therapeutics and treatment of cancer patients.
