Dr. Jonathan Schertzer is a Professor in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences and member of the Centre for Metabolism, Obesity, and Diabetes Research (MODR) and Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute. Dr. Schertzer holds a Canada Research Chair in Metabolic Inflammation. Dr. Schertzer guides a research team that examines the connections between metabolism, immunity, and microbiota. The research program aims to understand how nutrients, microbiota, and drugs engage the immune system to alter endocrine control of metabolism. This research is relevant to understanding obesity, diabetes, fatty liver disease, myopathies, and enteric infection.
