Andrea Zeffiro
Assistant Professor, Communication Studies & Media Arts

Andrea Zeffiro is an Assistant Professor in Critical Technology Studies in the Department of Communication Studies and Media Arts, Academic Director for the Lewis & Ruth Sherman Centre for Digital Scholarship, and an affiliate faculty member in the Master of Public Policy in Digital Society Program. She received her Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Concordia University and was a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Zeffiro’s research areas include critical data studies, critical cybersecurity studies, data justice, and qualitative digital research methods. Her research on immersive mobile experiences, responsive installations, and virtual and augmented reality has appeared in academic journals and edited collections and exhibited at the Banff New Media Institute and the Art|Sci Center + Lab at the California Nanosystems Institute (UCLA), and in public spaces in Montréal, Toronto, and New York.
