Celia Elaine Rothenberg
Associate Professor, Religious Studies

Overview

My research interests lie at the juncture of the anthropology of religion and gender. I am interested in religion as it is practiced, lived, challenged, and affirmed, particularly among Jews in North America.

I have focused on confessional Jewish films: the Jewish summer camp experience; Jewish yoga; and Jewish healing groups. My doctoral and postdoctoral research focussed, respectively, on the Palestinian village of Artas in the West Bank and the Palestinian diaspora in Toronto.

Current research Areas: Culture and Religion, Jewish Studies
