A self-consistent approach to modeling strain gradient plasticity

Abstract

A model has been developed to integrate the effect of particle size on the plastic behavior of metal matrix composite. A micromechanics approach is introduced into a self-consistent model applied to a composite consisting of three regions: the particle, the adjacent matrix containing a high density of geometrically necessary dislocations, and the remote matrix.
