abstract

  • Improvements in neonatal mortality rates have occurred as a result of regionalized perinatal care, neonatal intensive care and improved socioeconomic standards. Some of this can be ascribed to specific advances in neonatal management, including the introduction of new formulae, and drugs such as indomethacin. The increased survival has produced a new morbidity which presents a new set of challenges in continuing child and family care.
