Postgastrectomy hypoproteinemia
Abstract
A patient with severe protein malnutrition following partial gastrectomy is described. Hypoalbuminemia was shown to be due chiefly to reduced hepatic synthesis of albumin and not to loss of albumin into the gut (“protein-losing enteropathy”).
