Abstract
Patients with mechanical prosthetic heart valves require long-term oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT). During the temporary interruption of OAT, bridging anticoagulant therapy with unfractionated heparin (UFH) or low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) is recommended.
