Evaluation of Disodium Cromoglycate in Intrinsic and Extrinsic Asthma1–3

Abstract

A double-blind crossover trial of disodium cromoglycate was conducted on 25 (13 intrinsic and 12 extrinsic) patients chronically disabled by asthma who required steroid therapy. Efficacy was measured by changes in symptoms, pulmonary function studies, use of other medication, and exercise tolerance. Fifteen of 25 (6 intrinsic and 9 extrinsic) patients showed significant clinical improvement with disodium cromoglycate.
