Comparative study of the rotomolding characteristics of various polymers

Abstract

A comparative study of the processing characteristics of various polymers is presented. Several resins, including LLDPE, PP copolymers, EBA, PVC and PC, were rotomolded by using uniaxially and biaxially rotating machines and optimum processing conditions were determined. Detailed mechanical property tests revealed the advantages and disadvantages offered by each resin. Results from sintering experiments, in conjunction with the material and rheological properties of the resins were analyzed, in order to offer an interpretation for the processing behavior observed.
