Computer simulation of melt flow in wave screws

Abstract

The finite element method was used to model the flow field in the metering sections of conventional, single wave, double wave, and triple wave screws. The flow fields, velocity vector patterns, and corresponding dispersive and distributive mixing capabilities of each screw are discussed.
