Initial treatment of venous thromboembolism
Abstract
Immediate anticoagulant treatment is essential to reduce morbidity and mortality in patients with acute venous thromboembolism (VTE). Currently, rapid anticoagulation can only be achieved with parenteral anticoagulants, such as heparin or low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH).
