Motivational interviewing for improving outcomes in youth living with HIV

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Almost half of all the new HIV infections occur in youth. Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counselling technique that is effective in bringing about positive behavior changes in the general population. It is unclear whether it can be used to improve outcomes in youth living with HIV. OBJECTIVES: To determine whether MI is effective in improving outcomes in youth living with HIV.
