Application of the two-fluid model to gas stirred metallurgical vessels

Abstract

A 3-D "two-fluid" model was developed to simulate flow and gas-liquid reaction in gas stirred metallurgical vessels. It was found that the bending of bubble plumes could be successfully predicted if the momentum transfer at gas-liquid interface was properly taken into account, and that calculated gas-liquid reaction is in good accord with experimentally measured. This model provides more detailed information about gas-liquid reaction rates.
