Planning V2G-capable EV Charging Stations in Urban Power-Transportation Networks

Abstract

Vehicle-to-grid(V2G) concept is gaining increasing favor as a efficient solution of accommodating large-scale electric vehicles (EVs). However, the benefits of V2G implementation could be suppressed under a less-effective charging station layout. Anticipating the V2G operation in planning phase could increase the planning efficiency yet not well considered in the existing literature. Here the framework for charging station planning is proposed, which particularly simultaneously consider the users’ convenience and the optimal operation in V2G mode. Numerical tests indicate that the proposed approach could provide guidance for building charging station in different V2G ratios, ensure the users’ convenience, operation economy and security.
