Incorporating Vehicle-to-grid Technology in Charging Station Planning in Coupled Power-Transportation Networks

Abstract

Facilitating the flexible and economic operation of power distribution networks, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology is deemed a promising key of supporting the large-scale electric vehicles (EVs) diffusion. However, the benefits of V2G are curtailed under an inadequate electric vehicle charging station planning strategy. To tackle this issue, we propose charging station siting and sizing problem in aware of the V2G behavior, in which the service competence of the power-transportation network is jointly optimized. A preliminary case is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed charging station planning method. The results show that the proposed method is efficient in reducing operation costs in the context of different requirements of power-transportation networks.
