Broadband Wide-Angle Absorber for Microwave Imaging of Tissue

We propose a broadband wide-angle absorbing structure for the microwave imaging of tissue. At incidence angles from 0° to 80°, the reflection coefficient for the proposed structure is better than −20 dB for TE polarization and better than −12 dB for TM polarization within the operational bandwidth of 3 GHz to 8 GHz. The results indicate superior performance in comparison with published results. The proposed absorber has significant potential in fulfilling the need for nonreflecting enclosures for biomedical imaging.
