(Invited) Real Time Monitoring of Target Binding for the Development of Clinical Diagnostic Tests

Abstract

Currently, there is tremendous interest in developing continuous monitoring systems for better managing health and disease. These platforms rely on readout methods that continuously monitor the presence of bioanalytes in physiological matrices. In this talk, I will discuss the development of new electrochemical signal readout methods that continuously monitor the binding of targets with biological recognition elements such as functional nucleic acids. We will discuss the application of these platforms to the detection of infectious pathogens as a model system, but will show the possibility of its extension to protein targets.
