Electro-Acoustic Scattering using Finite Difference Time Domain Method (FDTD)

Abstract

In this paper, we show the enhancement in the Radar Cross section (RCS) due to dielectric inhomogeneities caused by an acoustic disturbance using the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. The acoustic source creates a pressure variation around the source, which leads to a dielectric variation. This dielectric variation increases the RCS around the object. We observe an average of 8dB enhancement in the RCS.
