AFTERWARD: The Death of Higher Education as a Democratic Public Sphere

Abstract

In this final chapter Henry A. Giroux offers a collective vision for a reinvigorated Academic yet social responsibility. That is, University workers acting in solidarity, the interests of the global working class, by challenging the conditions in which they labor, the neoliberal global capitalist social order. It is only through our mutual recognition that our social responsibility might articulate a tomorrow unchained, where young people might live out their human agency to create a future not bound by the market but in harmony with the world’s ecology.
