Public Administration in the NICs: Accomplishments and Challenges

Abstract

Reflecting on the material presented in the book, the experience of the four Dragons can be useful in gaining insight into the complex world of modern public administration. The cases examined include some of the most vibrant and successful instances of administration and management in the present world, and serve to illustrate the need for more similar studies. There is little doubt that the four Dragons of Asia have accomplished an impressive level of success in the maintenance of public order, promotion and preservation of economic vitality, provision of public and social services, dealing with the problem of corruption and in demonstrating the willingness and capability of introducing innovation.
