Introduction

Abstract

An overview of the book is provided in this introduction. It sets out the background of the authors: an academic, a person living with dementia and a care partner. This provides the unique context of the book - it is based on both research and lived experiences of dementia. The book focuses on the journey of dementia, from pre-diagnosis to diagnosis, post-diagnostic support, increasing care needs and end of life care. As such it covers the basics throughout the journey of dementia, bringing together research evidence with lived experiences to ensure that the reader is aware not just of the research evidence, but what this might mean for the person living with dementia and those providing care and support.
