abstract

  • The Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD) predicts that Canada will be the worst performing advanced economy over the next decade. Wages have been virtually stagnant for 50 years, while the top 20 per cent of households hold almost 70 per cent of all the net worth in the country. It begs the question: Who is this economy working for? To help us understand, we welcome: Vass Bednar, public policy professor at McMaster University; Bret House, economist and professor at Columbia Business School and Fellow with the Public Policy Forum; Sunil Johal, professor, Public Policy and Society, University of Toronto and Vice-President, Public Policy with the CSA Group; and Kaylie Tiessen, labour economist, Unifor; and Graeme Moffat, senior fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
