Electron spin resonance of spin-polarized atomic hydrogen

Abstract

Electron spin resonance measurements of spin polarized atomic hydrogen are presented. Quantitative fits to the separately measured a and b (proton up and down) density decay curves of the nuclear spin-polarized samples yield the temperature dependences of the two recombination rate constants Kaa and Kab. Spin relaxation due to magnetic particles in the substrate is studied for different thicknesses of solid H2 wall coating, and the results compared to a new theoretical model.
