Informal educational apparatuses, particularly the corporate-controlled conservative media, appear increasingly to align themselves unapologetically on the side of tyranny. Donald Trump drives the mainstream media’s non-stop coverage of what amounts to his Reality TV-based propaganda show and in doing so it further amplifies his high velocity populist tweets, spectacles, and ongoing lies and misrepresentations. Catering to the notion that whites are under siege, Trump employs a rude, bullying, humiliating, and hate-filled discourse to breathe new life into the forces of white supremacy, hyper-masculinity, and a bellicose nationalism. Trump developed a partnership with the conservative media machine and in doing so it enabled him to channel his notion of populist anger to a vast audience using multiple platforms. David Bell is right in arguing that Trump is, in part, a product of the conservative media machine and that the educational force of this apparatus poses a dangerous threat to the United States.
