abstract

  • Diphenylcarbene reacts with oxygen with a rate constant of 5 × 109 M−1 s−1 in acetonitrile at 300 K. The reaction leads to an intermediate which absorbs strongly at ~410 nm, believed to be the carbonyl oxide, Ph2COO.
