The chemistry of chromarenes: organic derivatives of 1,2,3,4,5-pentafluoro- and 1,2,4,5-tetrafluoro-chromarene

Abstract

(C6F5Li)Cr(C6H6) can be converted into (C6F5X)Cr(C6H6), where X is CHO, CH(OH)CH3, COCH3 or CO2C2HS. The dilithio derivative (C6F4Li2 )Cr(C6H6) forms a stable di-ester, but the bis(trimethylsilyl) derivative is very labile. Attempts to synthesise chromarenes with alkenyl substitutents are described.
