Terahertz Extended Kalman Filtering Method

Abstract

Terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) is a well-established spectroscopy technique that can investigate modes of molecules, particularly in vapour. However, maximum detectable absorption is often low and depends on the dynamic range of the THz-TDS system and the thickness of the sample. With the burden of low dynamic range in realistic environmental settings, THz-TDS systems often are infeasible to implement [1]. This is exacerbated when THz-TDS is applied to highly absorptive samples such as occurs in microfluidics [2], which is a favourable application for THz-TDS [1].
