Biosynthesis of Vitamin B6. Incorporation of Terminally Labelled Glucose

Abstract

Radioactivity from D-[1- 14 C]glucose as well as from D-[6- 14 C]glucose is confined to C-2′, -4′, and -5′ of pyridoxol, but the quantitative distribution of label among these three carbon atoms is different in the two cases. These results are interpreted in terms of the early stages of the biosynthesis of vitamin B 6 .
