Warum ich an SDI nicht mitarbeite: Eine Auffassung beruflicher Verantwortung

In May 1985 the U. S. Department of Defense invited me to be a member of an advisory panel for the „Star Wars“ (Strategic Defense Initiative or SDI) program. I was told that SDI was a way out of the Arms Race. SDI would make nuclear weapons impotent and obsolete because they would be destroyed in flight. SDI would end our fear of nuclear weapons. In spite of all that, just two months later I resigned from the panel. This paper explains why I oppose SDI.
