Small modular reactor emergency energy management model for critical facilities in cities

Sixty-one SMR designs have been analyzed via a scoring system with five major criteria. The best three designs were selected for the purpose of emergency power supply of critical facilities. Criteria include safety features, primary heat transport system, fuel enrichment, electrical output and physical size. Literature review, data collection, calculations and mapping have been performed in support of the scoring. The reactors having highest scores are the CAREM 25 (integral), NuScale (integral) and 4S. From these results, it can be concluded that there are reactor designs that seem promising for urban energy supply management.
