POTENTIAL LIQUEFACTION ANALYSIS OF TURNU MAGURELE-NICOPOLE DAM.
Abstract
The paper presents the main results of a dynamic stability analysis of the dam. These results are discussed in terms of the new stability concept. The dynamic analysis indicated a normal earthquake behavior, with a stronger rsponse for the Vrancea earthquake, whose dominant period is closer to fundamental period of the dam. The potential liquefaction zones induced by the design earthquakes within the hydraulic fill upstream shell has led to a new typical profile, which includes an upstream gravel prism similar to the one downstream.
