abstract

  • The range of Na24 in aluminum has been reinvestigated in the energy region 1.0–100 kev, using an isotopically separated beam of Na24. Below 10 kev, the results differ significantly from our earlier data in which a much larger integrated flux of alkali metal ions (Na23 + Na24) was required. Above 10 kev the discrepancy between the two sets of data disappears. The recent theoretical treatment of Oen, Holmes, and Robinson is found to be in quite reasonable agreement with the median ranges [Formula: see text] obtained in the present work, particularly if an allowance for the electronic stopping contribution at the higher energies is included.
