Dispatch model for combined water supply of multiple sources under the conditions of uncertainty

Abstract

An interval-parameter two-stage stochastic optimization model was developed for dispatching the multiple sources water systems for urban supply under the conditions of uncertainty. In the model the minimal system operation cost was regarded as the objective function and the probability distribution and interval parameters were used to express the uncertainty of water supply. The process of combined water supply from multiple sources, including the surface water, groundwater and water obtained from external system, was simulated and the objectives of water from various sources were optimized. The optimized results provided for decision-maker was in the form of interval parameter. By using this method, the influence of uncertainly on system operation cost can be considered sufficiently and the situation of combined water supply can be actually reflected.
