Experimental research on coal fly ash activation

Abstract

A comparative experimental research concerning the appearance property, the ratio of water demand and the strength of the coal fly ash cement mortar between before and after the mechanical and chemical activation of the coal fly ash was conducted. The results show that the effect of activation is distinct, and the strength of the mortar for the activated coal fly ash cement mortar (30% coal fly ash) for 3 d and 28 d increased by 10.7% and 15.5% respectively, compared with the situation without activation, which shows that the activated coal fly ash can be used as the cement blend.
