Charge Coupled Devices (CCDs) flown in spacecraft are subject to radiation damage from the energetic protons they encounter. This radiation causes degradation in a number of electro-optical characteristics. It is important to understand these effects on a CCD so that performance degradation during a mission lifetime can be anticipated, and so that methods for preventing unacceptable performance degradation can be found. We look at the expected read noise, dark current and charge transfer efficiency performance of the Lyman FUSE CCDs.
