Flux growth of CdCr2O4 and ZnCr2O4 single crystals by the slow cooling method from different fluxes

Abstract

The growth of single crystals of CdCr2O4 from the flux containing bismuth and lead oxides as well as the growth of ZnCr2O4 from the flux containing lead oxide, lead flouride and molybdenum trioxide has been studied. The starting compositions and crystal growth conditions are given. ZnCr2O4 single crystals up to 1 mm × 1 mm × 1 mm and CdCr2O4 single crystals up to 2.5 mm × 2.5 mm × 2 mm have been obtained.
