Investigation on von willebrand factor (VWF) proteolysis by adamts13 on-a-chip

Abstract

In this manuscript, a microfluidic platform is developed in order to study the proteolysis of von Willebrand factor (VWF) via ADAMTS13 enzyme under the physiological shear stress. The microfluidic channels are functionalized using a new method of CO2 plasma treatment and then seeded with endothelial cells. The cells are subsequently stimulated to secret VWF ultra-large multimers. We demonstrates the cleavage of VWF multimers under the required shear stress.
