Slipszymes: Lubricant-infused dnazyme surfaces for detection of pathogenic bacteria in complex fluids

Abstract

Bacterial infections transferred through food (breakouts), are a major source for food-borne illnesses, many deaths and costly early recalls. Despite great amount of recent works on engineering sensitive biosensors, detecting small number of analytes, designing devices that stay viable under adherent solutions has been unmet. In this work, we developed a DNAzyme based biosensing platform that can detect low concentrations of bacteria under whole milk which has high surface adhesion and blocking characteristics.
