Amplification of picosecond optical pulses at 1080 nm using an InGaAs/GaAs quantum well SOA

Abstract

Short picosecond optical pulses generated by a passively mode-locked quantum well diode laser are amplified using an InGaAs/GaAs flared-waveguide semiconductor optical amplifier. Post-compression of the amplified pulses yields durations as low as 520 fs. © 2005 Optical Society of America.
